SUCKING UP BATTERIES

MY RTH8500D is going through a set of batteries every 3 to 4 months. conventional gas forced air furnace with a/c. Is anyone else having this problem?...

How do I wire a Honeywell RTH8500D so that it does not need the battery as the primary power source? I have a two wire 24vdc hot water system that connects to a Taco SR502 switching relay....
