Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD recorder (Also Funai MWR10D6)

I have heard that DVD recorders such as this one have been "hacked" to remove things like region codes and allow getting around the E25 error, which comes from the TV station sending something which tells the recorder NOT to record a program. Is this true? Does anyone out there know of these things and can enlighten me? It irks me that one of my local stations sends out the signal or whatever which prevents me from timeshifting programs from when I am in school in the evenings. I guess I;ll stick with my VCR instead of the DVD unless I can find an answer. Thanks!...
