tells me printer is offline and also paper lever thickness position,whats that mean?

my I550 printer will not print

I do not have a manual. my unit has lt. button on top to turn it on. and lt. button (my friend) said push to move the cartridge in the middle for loading cartridges. i put in new cartridges and now the printer will not print on any icon that i push on my computer....

purge unit, or ink pick-up unit

my i550 has a new print head and all new OEM ink tanks, reset waste ink counter...printer will not print any colors or black..have had it 6 years used cheap ink and replaced print head every year and always worked fine untill now...Is there apurge unit or something else that helps deliver ink to head? any help will be greatly appreciated...Thanks Again......
